Midlife Mama Chia Power Pudding
August 23, 2026
If you’re a “midlife mama” like me or you’re just a human being living in 2026, you’ve probably heard approximately 2,457 times that you need to eat more protein and fiber. I mean I hope you have heard this recommendation because it’s actually one of the truthful ones on the internet. I have been telling you to eat a balanced diet with adequate protein and fiber for a very long time but since it’s is now extra trendy, I might as well take advantage and go with it to really nail these nutrients into your nutrition foundation.
Knowing what you need and actually figuring out how to get enough of it during a busy day are two very different things so check out this recipe for my Chia Power Pudding which is, simply put, a nutritious powerhouse in a cute little jar. It’s an easy, creamy, make-ahead breakfast or snack that helps check some of those important nutrition boxes without requiring much time or effort.
At this stage of life, I am all about food that tastes good, makes me feel good and makes my life easier.
Nutrition becomes even more important as we move through perimenopause, menopause and beyond but that does not mean we need to make eating more complicated.
In fact, I think we need to do the opposite.
Instead of obsessing over every calorie or chasing the latest wellness trend, I want you to focus on consistently adding nourishing foods to your meals.
Protein helps support and maintain muscle mass as we age, which is incredibly important for strength, metabolism, bone health and staying independent for the long haul.
Fiber supports digestive health, heart health, blood sugar regulation and satiety, and most of us could use more of it.
The Power Ingredients
Chia seeds: These tiny seeds pack a surprising nutrition punch. They’re rich in fiber and also provide plant-based omega-3 fats and a little protein. They absorb liquid and create that thick pudding texture without any cooking.
Greek yogurt: My not-so-secret weapon for bumping up the protein. Greek yogurt makes the pudding extra creamy while adding a significant amount of high-quality protein.
Fruit: Fruit brings natural sweetness, beautiful color and even more fiber, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants to the party.
Depending on exactly what you add, you can easily customize this pudding with different fruits, nuts, seeds or toppings.
Throw your ingredients into the blender, blend until creamy, stir in your chia seeds and let the fridge do the rest.
Refrigerate for several hours or overnight until the chia seeds absorb the liquid and the mixture thickens into a pudding. Spoon into individual jars or bowls and top with fruit, nuts, seeds, granola or whatever sounds good to you.
Then congratulate yourself because breakfast is already made.

One of the most important messages I want women to understand is that you don’t need a cabinet full of supplements, a complicated meal plan or a completely different diet as you’re entering midlife.
The most impactful thing you can do is listen to and nourish your body even more. Think of what you can add, not take away.
Add more whole foods. More plants. Enough protein. Enough fiber. Strength training. Sleep. Movement. Hydration. And yes, plenty of foods you simply eat because you love them too.
