What year is it? And hold the cone!

This was me back in the winter, like last winter, was that 2019? I keep confusing the years. No mask , no anxiety, just slowly perusing the ice cream aisle for the mini cones that are staples in my house. Don’t you just love those little minis? Great tool for my sweet tooth after dinner.

Anyway, I went back to Trader Joe’s a few times this month. I felt like a kid about to go into a candy store but when I reached the entrance, I realized just how much we are living in a completely different world. Everyone was masked of course, some people with gloves, and I felt a rushed feeling like ok let’s make this fast and get out of here. They run a pretty tight ship at TJ’s so don’t be afraid to go if you have one near you, but it just wasn’t the same. Grocery shopping is actually something I enjoy unlike most people. I mean hello, I’m a dietitian and a proud food nerd! It’s my favorite peaceful alone time (unless I have to take my kids which then turns into the opposite of calm 😀).

I can’t wait until we are able to live in a mask-free world where we can see people’s expressions (smiles 😀, smirks 😠, whatever I’ll take it). So what started as a post about Trader Joe’s and ice cream has now turned into a simple message. Take each day at a time and let’s look forward to a new year and renewed sense of hope. Gosh you’re so serious right now, Laura!

No but the truly important question is really, what TJ’s mini ice cream treat is your favorite?🍦 We are big Hold the Cone, Mochi and Bon Bon fans. In addition to the tins of dark chocolate wedges, these treats are the perfect healthy ending to a day stuck inside with your little monsters, I mean wonderful children.
